Cookie bite hearing loss is the name given to the type of loss associated with a u-shaped audiogram result – which incidentally also looks like a cookie someone has taken a bite out of. The u-shaped, or cookie bite curve indicates mid-range frequency hearing loss.

The curve resembles the form of a cookie with a bite mark in it, hence its name.

To take this into account, hearing sensitivity can be measured for a range of frequencies and plotted on an audiogram. Other method for quantifying hearing loss is a hearing test using a mobile application or hearing aid application, which includes a hearing test.
